-Porto Santo limestone caves

Ilhéu de Baixowhich is part of Porto Santo

This islet has rich limestone mines which, with the proper authorization and specialized monitoring, can be visited.

Its slopes, which are perforated by caves, give entry to numerous exploration galleries.

These mines are currently deactivated.

The construction of a cable car was plannedto connect Porto Santo with Ilhéu de Baixo.

Not commercialized yet

Not clearly signed – can be hard to find. Best with guide.

Quite unique fauna, with the some endemic species.

-Pico da Ana Ferreira

The peak of Ana Ferreira is a unique elevation on the island of Porto Santoand a geological monument of worldwide relevance. presence of small caves, justify a visit to the site.
